The strategy developed in Ecuador is payment for the conservation of crude oil in the subsoil.

It is not the sale of oil reserves, since this is illegal, nor is it payment for the conservation of biodiversity or for the respect of indigenous rights, since these are national obligations.

It is payment as a means of compensation for the crude oil that will be kept in the ground.
