Congratulations President Correa, and all people of Ecuador you have taken a very important and corageous step, when all the big users of petroleum are dragging their feet to take a responsible desition. Here in Australia goverment and opposition are still talking, that someone else should start, before they make a desition, it is already too late.

I liked your proposal since I first read about it several months ago. In Germany, where I live, there is a law to save taxes whenever you give a donation for a purpose that is certified by our finance departments. Do you know anybody in Germany who is working on the idea to make your project such a purpose?

We as human beings can't sit back waiting that someone else take action to protect not only the Yasuni, but our planet. This is the time in history where we can make a difference, supporting causes like this is a powerful way to say we are here, we care about future generations of all species.

It is sad to hear that politicians are planning to destroy the world in the name of development. There are alternatives for most of the development projects, but is there an alternative to the destroyed environment?

What a great idea! Hopefully, the so called developped world uses this opportunity to save one of the greatest places on earth! (instead of greedily looking at the oil supplies :-(

Brabo President Correa! If all the major heavily industrialized countries of the world would take similar actions, the world would already show positive changes good for the whole of the human race. Why are they concerned so much with money if they cannot take all their riches when they die? Stop distroying your home and ours, now!!

Freinds

Many people talk about this excellent project, but the sad part is that there is no a clear path for the citizens to support the proposal by buying those certificates and keep the pollutant meters down in the ground.

Please, how can we or where should we go to buy the certificates, please a link or something to support this, time is running out.

Thanks

Patricio

This is a farsighted plan. I commend the Ecuadorean government. I hope and pray that it will come to pass. I believe the world community will support this. May it come to pass that the rainforest will be preserved for future generations. There is far more to be had in eco-tourism than in oil. Oil is ruining our planet. Enough!!

Congratulations to this small country, Ecuador. What you are trying to do is one of the most revolutionary changes in the history of the world, but not just thinking in you, but in all the rest of people around the planet. I hope the USA could support and follow this wonderful philosophyof of love for the life.

The Ecuador government plan is viable and deserves support if in fact clear mechanisms for funding support can be orchestrated. Such support could include debt relief and loan repayment waivers as well as direct payments by nations, particularly the United States. The Woarani nation must finally become fully respected.

Hola! Dale Correa dale! What a great initiative. I run an NGO in the U.S. that works in Ecuador. We would be willing to be a clearing house for these donations from the states so that people here could get a tax right off and donate online etc. We'd love to help spread the word and support the project in any way that we can. Just contact me to let me know how to help.

kongratiulations to this great campaign.
i think especially in germany will be a lot of interest in this proposal, because the green movement ist spreaded all over the country.
i read about yasuni oil in TAZ, a daily newsletter, and was really enthusiastic about the idea of selling barrels of oil to keep them in earth.
may be it could be an option to translate this website into german to achieve more people. i'm sure there will be a big interest here.

greetings

I am italian. I've just read an article about the proposal; I think it's really interesting. We could spread the word and create a network in our area to pay for some "barrels". we'll follow the evolution of the proposal on your site. Keep up with the idea!

I am an American who supports this proposal. The U.S. government should support debt relief or offer direct aid. The U.S. is currently spending an estimated $300 million everyday in Iraq. In other words, 30 hours of our devastating military adventure in Iraq equals the annual amount requested to preserve the Yasuní. And it isn't even charity. The U.S. is rich to the degree that it has exploited the labor and resources of countries like Ecuador. The wealthy countries of the North owe an unquantifiable ecological debt to the South. An annual $350 million is but a drop in the bucket.

I love this proposal and want to help spread the word, but I need to know how to purchase "barrels." I live in the United States and have been searching the internet for a way to donate. Please help us in the international community to take action.
— Kayla

Hi Kayla,
currently it is not possible yet to buy "barrels", because the government is still setting up the accounts, drafting the certificate etc. The organizations running the campaign "amazonia por la vida", are urging the government to create these mechanisms asap. We were told that the sale should be able to start around 20/06. We´ll keep you informed through our website and mailinglist. Thank you for your support,

Really a very creative idea where everyone wins. Further, it difuses those advisors in Ecuador who propose not paying the foreign debt. The advent of "peak oil" will be accelerated by the deision not to produce, but this is a favorable outcome if world dependence on crude and derivatives declines in favor of other clean and renewable energy alternatives.
